Q: how does putting jeans in the freezer clean them? can someone explain
A: doesn't actually clean them, just eliminates any smell. University of York student found that there is no discernible difference in amount of bacteria between a washed pair of jeans and ones that have been worn for a year straight. Barring stains you can just freeze your jeans to eliminate odor and you're good to go

not all bacteria are the same. the bacteria that lives in cold water (aka river) can't survive warm temperatures, and vice versa. that's why jeans bacteria die in a cold environment (they are the warm temperature kind) and that's why you can eat raw fish (they have cold temperature bacteria, which dies in your body because of your body temperature) :)
